About
My name is Barbara H McNeely. I have a B.S. in Biology and I’ve worked for over 20 years as a computer programmer. So, I’m always seeking a creative outlet - sewing, guitar, writing and many different crafts.
Jewelry making was one of my first crafts. In high school, my sister, Conni, and I strung seed beads on fishing line. Then, following 9/11, I set out to make a Red, White, and Blue bracelet. At first, it was impossible to find anything in red, white and blue. So, I bought other beads and rekindled an old love affair with jewelry making. I did finally make the red, white and blue bracelet, and now have an entire series of patriotic pieces.
I’ve always been a very natural person. I prefer cotton over polyester; real wood over plastic; and so real gems over man-made ones. I do have man-made beads in my work, of course. But they are high quality, and include Austrian and other crystals. Mostly, I like to work with genuine stones, such as turquoise, coral, lapis, mother of pearl, and many, many more. I love Sterling Silver, so I tend to work almost exclusively in silver. Of course, if you have a request for something in gold, I will be happy to work with you.
